I have passed my half century mark. I have 2 young sons at home 24/7 (we are homeschooling them) with my husband and business partner. I also have a grown daughter and two grandchildren, a boy older than my sons and a girl in between them. My daughter grew up away from me after the age of 3, while I went in search of myself and her father provided her with a step-sister and half-sister - a family that I could not. I cherish having time with my boys, experiences that I missed with my daughter, who is a best friend of mine.
We live in the equivalent of a one-room cabin in the rural wilderness of SE Missouri. My 86 yr old MIL is our closest neighbor. My FIL died Nov 4, 2007. We were able to honor our committment to help him remain at home until his death. It was a committment that was much more demanding than we anticipated but one that was very gratifying. My MIL is catching her second wind and is now doing better than she has for the last 3 yrs since being diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She is a close confidant of mine. If you are caring for an elderly loved one, or even a younger person with terminal illness, and would like some support from others who understand what that is like, please visit the Loving Carers pod at http://pods.gaia.com/lover.
My husband and I are in the process of building an environmentally sensitive new home/office that will be off the grid, further off the road and into the woods, between the waterfalls on the two creeks on either side of the hilltop. We are hoping it survives a long, long time and is home to 4-5 generations of our descendants, if possible. Therefore, I have set an intention, because I know not how much of this life I will be allowed for enjoying the place once it is finally built, to return here as birthed by one of those descendants and that I be female once again. Will I remember that?
Our business is recycling materials into building products. We recycle milk jugs and detergent bottles into panels that are used for restroom partitions, countertops and store fixtures. You can find us on the web at http://www.yemmhart.com/. Our inspiration is the Origins material and it yields patterns that look sort of like tye-die. In addition, we have a couple of flooring products made from tires or the vinyl scrap from automotive manufacturing. My husband recently started a grassroots effort to recycle wine corks and we have produced an initial run of samples to be used as floor tiles. Natural cork usage as wine stoppers, while more expensive than synthetic stoppers, is important to protect the Montados in Portugal which shelter a few endangered species and hold back the desert from encroaching on Europe. I became passionate about this project once I understood the interconnected, larger picture.
About 5 yrs ago, we entered into a program to protect our riparian buffers by planting 18,000 trees of a dozen hardwood species, during the subsequent 2 years, we replaced trees that died with new ones and added Pines, Cedars, Dogwoods and Redbuds.
I was born in Las Cruces NM. I love trees, I grew up in the desert on the border with Mexico (El Paso). When I was 3, I visited the beautiful, magical oasis of Ruidosa with my grandparents and said ”Trees, Trees, Trees”. I must have been astounded by it. I always did love the desert but knew it as a child, just a part of it, loving to play out in it, without adding adult knowledge of species, etc. I still love the border sounds of the foreign language and music, Mexican food and the environment of the desert when I visit.
My mother introduced me to Science of Mind during a difficult period of my life in my 20s. I later moved to St Louis, where I joined a Religious Science church that teaches the metaphysical concepts of Ernest Holmes. During that time, I attended a Jack Canfield seminar that I could barely afford and it changed my beaten down concept of myself and lifted me high enough to attract my soul mate and husband.
I moved into a rural forest wilderness with him and have practiced metaphysics solitarily during my hikes through the woods for the last 20 yrs (making a total of about 30 yrs in practice). The place where I married my husband has become my sacred site in a sheltered cove along the creek that runs by our home. It is a special place complete with rock alter, witness tree (which I hug and kiss daily), a small waterfall and still pool.
In the fall of 2006, a woman I was discussing homeschooling with told me she felt I was a Pagan. I had been somewhat casual, every day in my attitude towards my spirituality, I wasn't really seeking new knowledge or growth or expansion, but her comment started me on an internet search to confirm for myself whether I was Pagan. In the course of that search, I discovered Pantheism and Taoism - both of which resonate with my inner being. Then, I remembered seeing an ad for Zaadz, now Gaia, on the back cover of my Science of Mind magazine. I joined and went on a learning, expanding, growing binge and have never been happier than I am now.
If you would like to explore metaphysics with me, you can visit my pod - Living Metaphysics at http://pods.gaia.com/living_metaphysics . In addition to Science of Mind, we also discuss/study the Law of Attraction, Abraham-Hicks and channeling non-physical entities, the Tao Te Ching, The Divine Matrix and the Upanishads among other interesting explorations into the nature of reality. In the pod, we explore how we each can take personal responsibility in the shaping of our own lives and in doing so, become the flowering of an expanded consciousness here on Earth.
If you are over 50 yrs of age, there is a pod for you - http://pods.gaia.com/50_stars.
